Evil Gecko on the Green -- Page 3

Riding with Mike I rode with Mike for the last 5 miles on the Green. It was a little tough finding a spot because he had this boat loaded to the gills - big tables, 2 burner stove, and FOOD. Boy, did he have good food! Unfortunately, he never offered to share with me. He did point out the ladies skinny dipping at Water Canyon, however!
The last evening, the group camped at the upper Spanish Bottom campsite. They stopped here because they wanted to check out the rapids in Cataract Canyon. I went along when some of them hiked down to the first rapid in Cataract. The rapid didn't look too tough, but they said the water was unusually low. Even so, there was a tandem wave in the center that was about three feet high with the crests about 6 feet apart. They told me to be careful and watch my footing, but… First Rapid in Cataract Canyon
CPR After they pulled me out of the rapid, BJ gave me CPR. She said she never could find my pulse, but I don't think she was trying. How come she gave me chest compressions but wasn't willing to give me that mouth to mouth stuff. I was really looking forward to that!
Friday morning Tex's jetboat arrived to take everyone back to Moab. They thought they would keep me out of the way by stuffing me in a dry bag, but I got out. I figured since it was the last day that I could get away with anything. What were they going to do, send me home?? Stuck in a Dry Bag
Boat Loading I stayed out of the way on BJ's shoulder while the crew on the jetboat loaded all the canoes and kayaks. In addition to our group, there were three other couples on the shuttle back to Moab. One of the crew on the jetboat was wearing a sarong thingy. Everyone was wondering what he wore under the sarong, but no one wanted to ask.
I wanted to sit on the windshield and watch Dirk work, but he said it would be too windy and that I should just go sit down. Seemed like nobody wanted me! Watching Dirk
Jeri & Bob I asked Jeri if I could sit on her shoulder, but Bob still hadn't shaved. 'Sides that, they were sitting in the front row. If it was going to be windy back with the crew, I sure didn't want to be sitting in the front row. I noticed later that they'd moved back and found their jackets. Smart folks!
Mike tried to keep me sitting on his head to keep it warm, but his hair tickled. I finally got away from him and ran to BJ. Mike
I'm Scared! About that time the boat started up and scared the living daylights out of me. I jumped right on BJ's face, but she grabbed my tail and stuffed me in a dry bag. The boat was sure loud - I wish I'd brought my earplugs! I don't have any idea what happened on the rest of the trip back to Moab.
Back in Moab, the group wanted a picture. You'll note they left me out, but they did find out what was under the sarong! Group Photo
Still trying to mooch That evening, they celebrated at the Slickrock Café in Moab. I was eying that tall glass of dark brew, but somebody was trying to entice me with some lettuce. Give me a break! All in all, it was a nice trip, even if I didn't ever get to swipe Mo's boat. Now I'm back home in Tempe, but I'm always ready for the next trip.
