Evil Gecko on the Green -- Page 2

Dr. Dave's Lunch The group got their boats loaded and on the water about 11:30 a.m. Six kayaks and two canoes, with the river flowing at about 1200 CFS. Downstream an hour or so they stopped for lunch and I started mooching. It was sure nice not to need my own boat, gear, food, or shelter! Unfortunately, Dr. Dave was the only one willing to share his lunch and he was eating cold Dinty Moore beef stew!
On the second day, I started out riding with BJ and enjoyed the scenery around Fort Bottom and approaching Potato Bottom. The group was going to stop across from Potato Bottom, but the river was low enough that it was going to be difficult getting to the beach without a hike through the mud. Riding with BJ
The Groover They finally stopped for a break at Beaver Bottom. I really needed some relief, so everyone was kind enough to look the other way while I took advantage of the "groover." (How'd they get this picture if they were all looking the other way???) The kayakers were really glad the canoeists came along since the groover was too big for any of the kayaks. Doug and Sandy had the box this day, and I rode the rest of the day in this exposed position.
Anderson Bottom was a fun place for me. Someone left a horny toad on a log that I tried to play with, but it acted like it was nailed down. Playing with a Horny Toad
Chased by a snake When I looked behind me, there was a snake chasing me. At that point, I wished I gone with the others to pump water from the seep. After a heart-stopping moment, I realized the snake was also nailed down. Turns out, this was the only snake seen by the group.
As the group departed Anderson Bottom, I checked out their loads. I sure couldn't figure out why they were all hauling water when they were floating down a river. They tried to explain that they preferred water without sediment. On the other hand, I thought the river looked very inviting - the color of a big springtime mud puddle. Hauling Water
Let's shave Bob! The guys caught Doug shaving Wednesday morning. I thought Doug looked lovely clean shaven. I wanted to do the same to Bob, but he wasn't willing. He fussed about the cold water, but I said I could scrape off that stubble in a heartbeat. I lost!
Up to this point, people had been willing to let me ride, but no one would let me use their boat. I tried to swipe John's boat, but my seal launch ended with the nose stuck in the mud. Before I could slink away, John pointed out that I wasn't going to get far without a paddle. Duh! Attempted Seal Launch
