2 1/2 cups water and/or broth (for dressing)
1 - 6 ounce (about 4 cups) package Mrs. Cubbison's Seasoned
Dressing or other safe brands
1 cored and grated apple
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup water and 3/4 cup rice/soy milk (for gravy)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons acceptable unsalted margarine
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups or more cooked and diced chicken or turkey
4 cups florentine vegetables, broccoli, corn or any other
mixture of vegetables
Cook the vegetables. If using flour, melt
margarine in a large saucepan on medium to medium-high.
Add flour, sugar, (nutmeg), and salt. Stir. Slowly add
1 1/2 cups liquid. Stir. Add vegetables and
chicken or turkey. Let simmer until hot. Grease
a 9x11 inch baking dish. In a bowl, mix the dressing,
water or broth and apple. Place in greased baking dish.
Place vegetable mixture on top of the dressing.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 to 35 minutes or until hot.
Serve.
