Make sure you visit my online store (Gluten Free and More Online Store) to find various allergy free foods, baking aids, snacks, cereals, pasta, pans, and more.
Some of the food products at Amazon.com are lots CHEAPER than in local stores (and online store).

GFCF = Gluten-free/Casein-Free

Not all gluten and dairy free products are on this page.

ALWAYS VERIFY IF A PRODUCT IS GLUTEN-FREE and stores have not changed their supplier.  Makes sure there is NO cross-contamination issues).

Make sure to check for "U", "Pareve", "Parve", or "U" (with no "D" on the label).  Go to: Dairy-free & Lactose-free Products for more information on the Kosher symbols.

Foods to Avoid
Make sure you go to: Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance to read more about it and foods to avoid.  This is one statement at this site: "Other key words to watch for are: farina, flour, caramel coloring, enriched flour, cereal, malt flavoring or extracts, monosodium glutamate (MSG)-may have wheat gluten in it, modified food starch, emulsifiers, stabilizers, distilled vinegar, semolina, durum, and triticale."

Here are some other web sites to learn more about foods to avoid: GFCF Diet, Foods to Avoid, Foods and Additives to Avoid Call or visit web sites to make sure certain manufacturer products are safe to eat.  Ingredients such as MSG or other food products might have gluten in it.
For vinegar or distilled vinegar, if wheat is the source, it is tripled distilled.   Some celiacs still react to it.  See below.

Distilled Vinegar / Vinegar is considered gluten-free but some people may react to it.  At Hunt's it can't claim that thier Barbecue Sauce and Ketchup are gluten-free because it "... contains distilled vinegar made from wheat or corn and may contain trace amounts of these grains."

Also, the representatives said all of the top 8 allergens will be listed on the label if it is in the ingredients; except: oats, barley, malt, etc. They said that is why they have a gluten-free list.
Others at: Gluten-Free InfoWeb: Manufacturer Addresses but always verify if the products are gluten-free.

Gluten-Free Products, Gluten Warnings, and Cross-Contamination

Gluten-Free InfoWeb has a statement from McCormick/Schilling (about their products).
I talk to McCormick/Schilling concerning about their seasoning mixes.  The mixes can not be declared gluten-free since they are made in the same factory as other gluten-free products.  For example, the sloppy joe mix does not contain wheat but there is the issue of cross-contamination.

You have to be really careful with cross contaminations, for example, store brand baking powder (e.g. Kroger baking powder), etc.  I would not trust any gluten-free flours and grains product that are in the bulk bins because someone might put a gluten/wheat scoop into a gluten free product.

I talked to Kraft Foods on May 17, 2002.  They no longer provide a Gluten-free list because they feel the ingredient label will state if it has gluten in the product.  For example, if it come from some type of gluten, it will have the ingredient and then (wheat, barley, rye, oats, etc.) on the label.  They have stated the same in early 2004.

There are probably lots more companies follow this procedure of what is on the label is what is in their products.  Call to make sure.

Note: You might have to make sure certain products are still gluten-free by calling the various companies.

You will need to verify with the various companies to make sure the "distilled vinegar" is acceptable.
For example, the "Van Camp's Pork and Beans" could be derived from wheat.  You will have to contact them to find out what the status of their beans are.

Warnings for Non-Food Items

Play Dough: Play-Doh and Crayola dough has wheat/gluten in them so do not use them.  "Crayola Model Magic modeling compound and Crayola Modeling Clay are gluten free."
If you need a play dough recipe, go to: Cel-Kids Play Dough Recipe to find one.

Envelopes and Stamps:  Some envelopes will come from wheat gluten, others will come from corn gluten, and there might be other forms so be careful.  So, to be safe, you need to moisten your finger (or use a sponge) to seal an envelope and stamp.

There are probably lots more out there so ALWAYS verify with the manufacturer if a product is gluten-free because any smalll amount of gluten that enters the system will cause damage (even touching a gluten can cause skin reactions for those with Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH)- like I have).

Bars, Rice
Nature's Path EnviroKidz Rice Bars (Berry and Peanut Butter)
Someone in the GFCFrecipes group emailed Nature's Path since they changed their Kosher label to Dairy instead of Pareve.  This is the response they gave to her: "Please note that our Chocolate Crispy Rice bars are made with milk chocolate and are therefore not suitable for you to eat. Our other two flavors are fine- they are, however made on the same equipment as the Chocolate bars, which is why they are certified Kosher Dairy, but we thoroughly clean the line between product runs."

NOTES:
Be aware of cereals with malt or malt flavor/ings in the cereal since it usually contains gluten.
There are more gluten-free cereals in grocery stores and health stores so look for "Gluten-free" on the package or contact the manufacturer or grocery stores to find out if the cereal is gluten-free.
Kellogg's Corn Puffs The formula was changed and wheat starch was added to this cereal.
Malt-o-Meal: Corn Puffs, Puffed Rice,  & Cocoa Dyno-Bites are no longer Gluten-free
The Fruity Dyno-Bites might be GFCF but there is cross-contamination issue.  Always verify to see if they have changed the ingredients (which they have to three cereals within the last year-since 2004).  We don't use this cereal since it has food dyes and other additives.  If we did use their cereal, I wouldn't trust them anymore (since they don't make any other cereal that is GF).

Arrowhead Mills There are some gluten free products.  Look for "Made with Non Gluten Ingredients".  They test each batch, when this in on the package.
Barbara's Bakery - Special Diets

Nature's Path We use this cereal all the time.  Koala Crisp has chocolate syrup which is made from corn alcohol.  (I don't react to this.  They told me it was sulfur-free.  That is why I don't react to this ingredient.)

Enjoy Life Foods, allergen-free goodies.
Perky's: Enjoy Life Foods 5/4/05 is now owned by Enjoy Life Foods. It is made in a nut-free facility.

Flours
Bob's Red Mill
Koda Farms - Mochiko Sweet Rice Flour (Blue Star Brand) We found this in an Asian Supermarket for really cheap.
Twin Valley Mills - Sorghum Flour Note: You can also purchase grain from them.

We also buy tapicoa starch and potato starch at an Asian Supermarket.  I have not reacted to the brands we purchase so they are gluten-free. (e.g. gastro problems and my hands have not broken out in Dermatitis Herpetiformis)

Flours & Grains
Giusto Brown Rice Flour, Millet Grain, etc.

I e-mailed Matt Giusto and he sent the following: "The Brown Rice flour is "Gluten Free" as determined by the International Codex Standard. This standard is 200 ppm(parts per million). We have tested out these flours and the results are BLD (below levels of detection). We do not "Guarantee" to be gluten free for the fact that we are a flour processing facility in which not only wheat but many other flours are manufactured. This is not to say the product is not gluten free. In order to be considered 100% "Gluten-Free or Wheat Free" the manufacturing facility needs to be dedicated to ONLY non-gluten ingredients."  I e-mailed him back and he sent the following: "The actual parts per million count we consistently receive is below 10.  Any reading below 10 is BLD (Below levels of detection)."

In January 2005, I talked to Matt Giusto and he told me they test all their non-gluten grains and flours before they are placed in the bags.  We use to buby their brown rice flour but since we bought our mill we mill our flours.  I have not reacted with gastro problems and I  have not broken out in Dermatitis Herpetiformis so the grains and brown rice flour are gluten-free.

Grain Mill
We purchased a WhisperMill and mill our flours now.  We purchase Giusto millet grain to make our own millet flour. The WhiperMill is no longer made but you can buy the Nutrimill Grain Mill instead.  We buy a 20 pound bag of brown rice (from an Asian supermarket) and mill our own rice flour.

Whole Food's 365 Every Day Value: Tater Puffs, Crinkle Cut French Fries and Hash Browns are gfcf and also corn-free.  (These are really good.  I sprinkle salt on the french fries because they put less salt in them for those who can't have that much sodium in their diet.)

Other manufacturers might be fine so you will need to contact them.  Albertson's fries are not gf.

Margarine
Check for the "U" and "Pareve" or "Parve" on these products.
We always buy Fleischmann's when they are on sale.  We freeze the sticks in the freezer.  When we need more margarine, we take one out of the freezer and thaw it in the refrigerator.  We don't use margarine anymore (if we do, it's only in frosting-which isn't very often).

NOTE: For one stick (1/2 cup) of unsalted margarine, add 3/8 of a teaspoon of salt (a heaping 1/4 teaspoon) to the recipe.  (I always use 1/4 teaspoon on salt for recipes that call for 1 3/4 to 2 cups of flour.)

Lundberg Rice Syrup Beware, they use a fungal enzyme to produce the rice syrup.  You might react to it if you have yeast/mold allergies.  (I  made chocolate rice bars in late April 2005 and reacted to the rice syrup.  My jaws got all tingly and nostrils were slightly congested.  The reaction lasted about 2 hours.)

Sausage
Celiac.com: gluten-Free Hot Dogs & Sausage List (I don't know which ones are dairy-free.)

Owen's Sausage is NOT gluten-free because 3 out of 4 of us reacted to it.  Now, we know we are celiac or at least gluten intolerant.
I called them on 3/16/04 and she said "Our sausage IS NOT GLUTEN FREE".  I called them again on 3/17/04 and talk to someone on the floor and she said: the monosodium glutamate is extracted from a gluten source but she didn't know what kind.  So, make sure before you eat anything with MSG in it.

Here are two responses I received from Owen's Sausage via e-mail on 5/3/04:
"We do not claim to have a gluten-free sausage.  The reasoning is because most MSG products are manufactured by using gluten based products.  We can not guarantee that all the MSG that we receive is manufactured from a gluten-free source so we can not make a gluten-free claim with our sausage."
"We buy our MSG from a broker which may purchase some of this product through export.  As a company we have now made the decision to not claim any of our products as gluten-free because of now realizing the sensitivity of people to this ingredient and of the nature of the MSG production."

Sauces
Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce (GFCF) & Barbecue Sauce and other products are gluten-free.  If gluten (dairy or other products) are used, these ingredients will be listed on the label.  Gluten-Free InfoWeb Food List states what Lea & Perrins sent to them about the ingredients in their products.  Remember, "whey" is a dairy product.

You can also receive a free recipe booklet with a coupon included.

Their other sauces might be fine.  You will need to contact them to make sure.

Safeway BBQ Sauce (Honey Mustard) I think it is dairy-free too.  (Milk products would be listed on the label if it had milk in it.)

Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue & Honey BBQ Sauce

"Our product is 100% gluten free.  Sweet Baby Ray's does not contain protein from any of the following potential allergens: barley, crustaceans, eggs, fish, milk, oats, peanuts, rye, soybeans, tree nuts or wheat.  The source of our modified food starch that is used in Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce is corn.  Also there are no dairy products or dairy product derivatives contained in Sweet Baby Ray's sauce."

Del Monte tomato products and ketchup are gluten-free.
I found this at Del Monte Answer for Gluten-free & Lactose-free Products but I called to make sure the ketchup is gluten-free.

Heinz Gluten-free Products

I called Hunts and the representative I talked to said that, all tomato products are gluten-free (except diced tomatoes mild green chile).  The ketchup (or anything else with distilled vinegar in it may come from wheat or corn) and are not gluten-free.

The crackers, in the ready made packs contain gluten/wheat.

Chicken of the Sea
Safeway Tuna, Chunk Light; Tuna (Tongol)  The list was received via e-mail on December 26, 2003.
StarKist Tuna

I react to something in the broth for the above canned tunas.  We now buy all-natural tuna from these stores and they are so good to have "just meat".
These do not have anything added (besides salt).  They do have salt free canned tuna too.
Whole Foods Tuna

Vanilla

Vinegar
The distilled vinegar is tripled distilled.  However, some celiacs do not get along with distilled vinegar.  You will need to be the judge if you can have distilled vinegar.

Heinz Wine Vinegar, Distilled White Vinegar and Apple Cider Vinegar
Heinz uses corn grain when processing their vinegars (and ketchup).
The "Apple Cider Flavored Vinegar" is not gluten-free.
Albertson's White Distilled Vinegar, Apple Cider Vinegar, Balsamic Vinegar, and Rice Vinegar List printed February 1, 2003
(Everything is triple distilled and gluten free.  The Rice Vinegar is rice based.)
Kroger Rice Vinegar
I would presume the White Distilled Vinegar and maybe others are gluten-free.
