Original Rhyme: Rain Rain Go Away

I scream for Ice cream

Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla.

All of us want to  eat.

Ice cream, Ice cream come to me.

Theme(s): Desserts, Ice Cream

Version 1

1-  Have the children say the rhyme in a steady beat speaking voice.
2-  Have the children come up with different voices to use while saying the rhyme.

Version 2

Verbal Ostinato Pattern: two times

1-  chocolate- strawberry- vanill----a (vanilla is stretched out a little longer)

2-  yum- yum
 

Teaching Procedure:

1.  Introduce the class to the rhyme by singing the words two times.

2.  Have the class sing the rhyme several times until they know the melody.

3.  Chant the ostinato so the class is familiar with the words.

4.  Divide the class into three groups.  The first group sings the rhyme while the second group says ostinato #1 and the third group says ostinato #2.

5.  Bring the class together to sing the whole rhyme using the ostinato.
