He married Catherine Henrietta McGOVERN, 5 Nov 1902. She was born 13 Dec 1881 in Amboy, Illinois and died 18 Apr 1968 in Rockford, IL.

In 1842 Caleb Brown married Sarah Sands Niles and their granddaughter was Spencer Tracy's mother. By coincidence Catherine and Carrie Brown (who lived in Freeport) were good friends. This lore has now been confirmed as fact in 2001 by genealogists Paul Edward and Pamela Niles.
