NILES, Mrs. Catherine H. Niles, 86, 103 Albert Avenue, died at 1:50 am Thursday, April 18, 1968, in St. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness. Born Dec. 13, 1881, In Amboy [IL], daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Bernard McGovern. Lived 40 years in Rockford, coming here from Freeport. Married to Paul Niles in Freeport. He died in 1915. Employed as a civil service nurse by the State of Illinois, serving at Dwight Reformatory and the Geneva Training School for Girls for many years. Member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, and of various Church organizations, and the senior citizens Center. Survivors include: one son, John M. Niles, Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Bennett, Janesville, WI., and Mrs. Allen Spicer, Cincinnati, OH; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Burkard, Rockford, and Mrs. Eleanor Roat, Santa Barbara, California; several nieces and nephews. Three daughters and one son predeceased her. Services will be at 9am Saturday in the Long-Klontz Funeral Home and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Freeport."[Where her husband is also buried.]
