Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork

1 1/2-2 cups cooked and cubed chicken or pork
3-8 ounce cans tomato sauce
2 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup distilled vinegar
1 cup brown sugar or 1 cup white sugar and 2 tablespoons mild molasses
1/4 cup corn starch + 1 1/2 teaspoons
3 1/2 to 4 cups vegetables
1-20 ounce can pineapple tidbits, chunks, or slices (cut them up); drained
3 cups uncooked white rice

Cook vegetables. Cook rice.  In a large saucepan, add tomato sauce, vinegar,
brown sugar (or white sugar and molasses) water, vinegar, and brown sugar.  
Stir.  Turn burner on.  Add some water and mix.  Add the remaining water.
Let sauce come to a boil; stirring occasionally.  Reduce heat and let simmer
until sauce thickens; stirring occasionally.  Add vegetables.  Turn heat off and
add the drained pineapple.  Serve over rice.
