Procedures
Activities:
1. Anticipatory Set: Hold the frog paper
plate puppet in your hand and have it jump and land on your lap. What
kind of animal is this? What sound does a frog make? (Have the students
make the sound with you.) How does a frog get around? (They hop).
Have the children hop like frogs. Start singing the song.
2. Sing the Song
-Sing the entire song for the children.
Ask the following questions:
(a.) How many frogs were in the song? (5.)
Have the children count to five with you.
(b.) What happened to each frog? (They jumped into the pool [water].)
Sing the song to the children again.
-Show the children the frog booklet and have the students sing the song with you. Place the frog in the pond as the children sing, "One jumped into the pool..." You can also use the book to teach another version of the song.
3. Closure: What was the song
about? (five frogs). After that, have the children sing the song
with you again
so they understand the importance to use math and music together.
Lastly,
have five students volunteer (if you are homeschooling, have the child
do
it each time) to be the frogs that jumped into the pool, as you and the
children (if they know how to sing) sing the song.
