Dividing Money

Objectives:
-The students will review dividing money and money with zero in the quotient.

Materials:
Dividing Money Worksheet or Divida Dinero Worksheet (Spanish) - pdf

Procedures
1. Anticipatory Setting:  How many of you go grocery shopping with your mom or dad?  What do you give the cashier?  Do you think it is important to divide money?  Why?  That is what we are going to review today!"

2.  Work a problem with the entire class.
-Example: $.56/4 Solution: $.14

3. Write problems on the board that have zero's in the quotient and have some students work them out.
(A.) $.24/3 Solution: $.08  (B.) $4.16/4 Solution: $1.04  (C.) $5.45/5 Solution: $1.09  (D.) $3.60/6 Solution: $.60

4. Compliment all the students for helping you out.  Review the answers of the volunteers with the class.  Have the students tell you if it is correct or not. If the answers are incorrect have the the class tell you what was done wrong.  Make the corrections in another color of chalk.

5. Check the understanding of the students.  Give the students a mini quiz/worksheet.

6. Walk around the classroom to see if all the students understand how to do the problems on the quiz.  If they do not understand, explain to them how to do other problem without telling them the answer.
